VEGAN LUNCH PART 2: ACAI BOWLS AT SALUD NYC

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day.  It's a widely known fact.  However, starting your day off with an egg Mc muffin, a hash brown, and a frappe isn't the best way to go about it either.  With my tight schedule, I can't always whip up a healthy and nutritious meal for breakfast.  That is until I encountered this spot in SoHo; west of Prince Street on Thompson Street.

Right off the bat, the place is relatively small.  There are two tables with each one accommodating four people.  The incorporation of a 'Dia de Los Muertos' theme or day of the dead for inspiration to the decor made me feel at home with my Mexican roots.  Having grown up in with Mexican culture, I found the atmosphere of this place a true representation of my childhood.  The music at this place features old classics like Juanes, Mana, and Los Enanitos Verdes; just to name a few.

 The Choco-Banana Bowl

The Choco-Banana Bowl

I had the Choco-Banana Bowl, and my friend Chris had the Pitaya Bowl.  Both of them looked amazing, topped with fresh berries and granola.  The little bowl reminded me of the ones my parents had at home.  The base at the bottom was a thick and flavorful blend of banana, rice milk, and chocolate nibs.  It is a perfect treat for the warm days approaching this Spring and Summer.  I instantly fell in love with this bowl and finished it in seconds.  The size may seem small, but trust me on this one, it'll be enough to keep you going for the day.

At a price point of just 12 dollars a bowl, I can see myself coming here often for my fix of a delicious acai bowl.  There are also other vegetarian twists to real Mexican dishes, which I do recommend a try.
