Daily Rotation Picks for Spring/Summer 2018
When I look for a shoe at any sneaker retailer, there's one thing that comes to mind: durability. There's nothing worse than watching your money fall down the drain with a sneaker that lacks quality and comfort. And nothing says quality of product better than a durable gum sole. A.Posse's brown Rivington features a thick gum sole perfect for maximum grip on rainy New York City afternoons. The velvety suede provides added comfort and a subtle touch of class. In my opinion, this shoes has the support of a sneaker, and the luxurious feel and look of a dress shoe.
Air Jordan 1 "White"
Virgil's collaboration with Nike was one of the most sought-after releases of 2017. The version of the Jordan 1 Retro High Off White Chicago was one of my favorites. The deconstruction of a classic may appear disrespectful to some, but, to me, it was a bold move. And because of Virgil's Abloh's bold decision of deconstructing a classic silhouette, I became more interested in clamming a pair for myself. Sadly enough, the stock was limited, and I struck out of one of my favorite pair of shoes. Now the sneaker is featured in a white color-way, suede and leather accents stay true to Jordan's original concept. Virgil's deconstruction of the Nike "swoosh" adds a "pop" to the rest o f the silhouette. I'd style these kicks with a some cropped pants or even some black sports shorts for an athletic look.
Adidas' Boost is one of the most comfortable materials out there. Boost is known for being highly responsive to impact, and some even say it feels like walking on a cloud. So it's no surprise Y3 continues releasing shoes with Boost material. This time around, Y3 is releasing a sneaker inspired by Houston Rockets superstar James Harden. One of the most notable aspects of The Y3 JH Boost is the oddly chunky shape; a silhouette that has increasingly become popular with Balenciaga and Kanye West leading the trend. I, personally, don't mind the chunky shape. I think the chunky silhouette is a needed deviation from the sock runner trend. This sneaker would pair well with white track pants or oversized shorts.
Yeezy 500 Blush
Following the hype of the chunky sneaker, Kanye West's Yeezy 500 in the blush color-way continues to rack up popularity. Despite not including Boost material in the outsole, the sneaker features a bulky adiPRENE sole. I think the thickness of the sole adds to the durability of the shoe. I also like the added suede to the top of the shoe as it adds contrast to the tan like colors. I would pair this shoe with some baggy sweats or some French Terry shorts.
White Gum Fulton
A.Posse's White Gum Fulton features some of my favorite aspects of a shoe: it has durability and versatility written all over. Durable gum material makes up the outsole of the shoe while smooth white leather makes up the upper. I think the boot is versatile in all aspects, as you can wear it casually out on the streets with some jeans or some sweats. However, it can also pair well in formal attire with some black chinos.
Those were my top five shoe rotations for this Spring/Summer season. Feel free to comment your favorite pair or add some shoe suggestions in the comments below. Cheers!
